South Australian Simon Michelmore showed why he is one of the premier drift racers in the state taming both the wet and tricky conditions as well as a classy field of local and interstate drivers at last weekends Drift Supercup at Mallala Motorsport Park.

2010 G1 champion Michelmore made the best of the tricky conditions which saw the circuit become wet and then dry again in a matter of minutes at times. Michelmore won the Pro Class battle from fellow SA driver Tom Monkhouse who had his own battle to make the final after a collision with Christian Pickering in the Top 4 Battle final as well as a rerun to contend with in the same round.

In the Street Class, drifters struggled to adapt early with lots of spins and slides in early practice but as conditions dried out the crowds were entertained with some tight battles with local drifter Davey Clarke coming out on top in his Corolla KE70 from another local Anthony Cece.

Crowds were also kept entertained with a number of on-track events such the Extreme Entry competition into Turn 1 where competitors were given 1 opportunity to thrill the crowds with the biggest entry into Turn 1 at Mallala which caused some competitors to almost end up in the tyre wall beyond the corner.

Another component to the program was the Time Attack where competitors had 2 single-lap runs around the 2.5km circuit to produce the best lap time.

With some outstanding entries entered and the threat of changing weather in the middle of the session it was going to be a thrilling battle with Brad Trenwith coming out on top in his RX7 with a blistering time of 1.12.375 from Steve Knight in his Lancer EVO6 and former drifter Simon Podlewski in his mammoth 800hp 180SX.
